After The Race

Results

  • Swimmers’ times are collected on lane timer stopwatches
  • None of the times are official until processed by the admin official(s) and posted
  • DISQUALIFICATION: If a swimmer is disqualified, they will not receive an official time for that event. DQ is the abbreviation for “disqualification.” At most meets, a swimmer can be disqualified from an event if a start, stroke, turn, or finish is not properly performed according to the rules. DQ’s are a natural part of a swimmer’s development, it happens to just about everyone at some point. Try not to let a DQ upset you too much. Learn from your mistake and you’ll likely swim legal next time.
    • If you have questions about the DQ, do not talk to the official. The swimmer should talk to their coach.
  • Other Codes:
    • NS is the abbreviation for No Show and is applied when a swimmer was scheduled to swim but no times were recorded
  • Place: An athlete’s placement in the results is determined by their official time. All the competitors from every heat in the event will be scored together and placed according to time.
    • NOTE: If you disagree with your swimmer’s official time or placement, talk to your coach.
    • The St. Charles County Summer Swim Team League awards points to each team for 1st through 6th place finishes according to the following tables:
    • Individual Events
    • Place 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
      Points 7 5 4 3 2 1
    • Relay Events
    • Place 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th
      Points 14 10 8 6 4 2

Ribbons

If your swimmer was fortunate enough to place in one of their events, they will earn points for the Torpedoes and receive a ribbon for each place they earned.  These ribbons will be created at the practice AFTER the meet, and should be available in the swimmer's folder by the Wednesday after the meet.
