- Click the "View all" link next to "Upcoming Events" to see any currently open items
- When the event is open for registration, Swimtopia shows this as "RSVP" in a green box
- Be sure to sign up for volunteer jobs to ensure you are obtaining the required credits
- Hint: Meets can be long events: well organized and assisted meets can and will run shorter and smoothly
Pack your bag(s) for the Meet
- Ensure you have all the gear ready for the meet
- Swim gear (Team Suit, Shirt, and Cap), Towels, Goggles, Shoes/Flip flops, Parka/Sweatshirt (as necessary, watch the weather), backups if needed, sharpie (if desired), phone and Swimtopia app
- Hats, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, Bug Spray (as necessary)
- Chairs, Umbrellas, Tents, Blankets: Some venues will allow you to bring these into the pool area (fenced area) and others will not. The size of the pool area will be the deciding factor along with the policies of the home team. The Torpedoes will allow you to bring fold-up chairs and tents onto the pool deck as long as you stay out of the roped-off areas such as the pools and the bullpen.
- Food/Snacks
- Water, Extra Water
- Healthy Snacks
- Bagels, crackers, fruit juice, Gatorade, granola bars, fruit, yogurt, cereal, trail mix, sandwiches
- Hint: Meets can be long events
- While we generally operate our concession stand at Alligator's Creek during meets, it is not a guarantee and other pools may not operate theirs either
- TIP: You may have to walk some distance before getting settled at the meet. Consider this as you pack.
- DO NOT BRING:
- Glassware: Glass is generally prohibited around pools due to safety issues and meets are no exception to this rule
Arrive on Time
- Ensure you have plenty of time to arrive on location, park, walk to the facility BEFORE team warm-ups
- At Alligator’s Creek, do not park on Civic Park Drive. The O’Fallon PD will stop the meet to get the cars moved. It’s not a good reason to delay the meet.
-
Check in with the coach (swimmer) and volunteer coordinator (parent)
- At Alligator's Creek: Check in is at the entry gate for both teams
- At away meets: Look for Torpedoes team members or a team banner
- Find a place to set your things
- Swimmers are the only ones allowed to enter the water at meets and only during designated times (warmups and events). Family members are NOT allowed to enter any water features at any time during the meets.
- Locate the Bullpen, especially if the pool is a new location to you
- The Bullpen will be the location where swimmers gather before their events and are organized into events, heats, and lanes prior to cueing behind the starting blocks. It is critical that all swimmers make their way to the Bullpen well before their next event.
- If you are unsure about any of the above, ASK for help
- Look for coaches, lead parents from the meetings, team shirts
